Mobius... what? No cockpit interior on the Shuttle?

Seriously... that is a real piece of art work, my friend!

Mohammed... a pretty handsome model you made there.

I did consider doing the cockpit interior..... for about 5 seconds. Then I slapped myself in the face and told myself to stop being stupid!

Great work Mohammed.

How will you secure the airlock to Unity? I'm very happy with my magnetic system, as it permits removing the fragile parts when I'm working on the model.

I've taken a few days out from my modeling. I feel a bit burned out - but I have almost finished P1 now, and sticking it to the other side of S0 is getting closer and closer.

Once completed, I'm all up to date with the parts I think, and will be hanging out for Alfonso's HTV, truss segments P3/4 & S3/4 and Pirs docking module. Then I'll build my second SOYUZ as well as a Progress. I want my final model to be "fully loaded" in a way which the real station never will be; with Permanent LM, ATV, HTV, 2x Soyuz and Progress docked to the station.

Keep crafting you lot! And keep those pics coming.

Indeed it does! And right when the first 5-section SRB does a full 123 second burn. Reading about the STS design system today, I learned that it is the 2nd stage of rockets which is the real business end of getting into orbit. Which makes sense I guess, because it's when the shuttle ditches the SRBs and leaves the atmosphere that it really starts to - literally - kick ass.

So I guess the 5-stage SRB's job is simply to poke the fatboy 2nd stage just high enough to let 'er rip.

Ares seems to make more sense than the shuttle to me intellectually - but emotionally and philosophically it just seems wrong. Yes I know the shuttle is very flawed, and so freaking expensive that just producing Saturn 5s and smaller derivatives on a non-stop production line from 1972 to today would probably have seen us on Mars already. *sigh*

I looked at your Vostok Mohammed - nicely done - and the base looks intricate indeed. That is a great looking ship. I always thought the Russian boosters looked more manly than US craft.

One thing I do need to tell you about Fortezza's shuttle when you build it. And this is something I should have done, and should have thought to have done - but didn't: Before folding the lip in the inside of the cargo bay, take some Crystal clear tape and stick it over printed side of the cargo bay so it completely covers the top of the cargo bay wall and the lip inside.

This because the top of the cargo bay is two folds with a blue strip running along the top. If you don't tape that down AFTER scoring but BEFORE bending and gluing, you will most certainly damage the top of the cargo bay rails. I did, and I was very careful. :( Or you could fold a piece of card over the top of each cargo bay wall and hold them on with soft-jaw alligator clamps.

In any case, just be aware that it's a very sensitive area of the model. Or at least, I found it to be. But then again, I found most of it difficult and time consuming. Heh.
