Reinforce that Rail!

**DEFINITELY**

As you can see in this shot:

I laminated my railway very heavily. About 6 sheets of 200gram paper from memory. It's very strong. I did this to provide some purchase for the Mobile Base System of the SSRMS. It slots in to the rails as per this shot:

This way the whole MBS + SSRMS system can be relocated along the length of the truss. Not at every single location, because of the hand rails, but it fits to at least 3 locations on each Truss section.

Y'all continue to amaze - both with the precision of Alphonso's design and the quality and inventiveness of your builds. It is a "mobile" base, after all ...

Hi to the group,

Well, now that the truss is complete I'm starting the Russian segment, which will be released soon.
Here is a preview of Zarya, at least a little part of it to show the details. It was supposed to be finished tonight but family is first.
The photos show my draft model with most of the body complete, except the front and back.
This module has a lot of cyrillic fonts but thanks to the photos I have I'm able to put most of those words.
Both the front and back of Zarya are designed to connect with PMA-1 and Zvezda.

See you soon.

Alfonso

Omg omg omg Well done again Alfonso

Ive been a busy bee too, I have completeled the p3/4 truss and added i tto the remained of the P truss

THe SARJ is comepletely moveable, I put alrernating layers of foamcore inside the SARJ ring but only glued every second layer to the ring while gluing the other layers to a 1/8th wood dowell...Its pretty strong but I will still have to support the entire thing

WOW great builds everybody. I have started the radiators for P1, and there is a sag as excpected(theyre not finished yet). as for the SARJ i made it removable as the pics show ,to keep it on instead of usinf alfonso's method i laminated about 5 sheets of cardstock on to the outer ring. Here are some pics.(sorry for the crappy photo #2)

Whoa!

Mohammed; The SARJ is an interesting joint, but not terribly strong. I am making mine 100% solid by using a very large stainless bearing of the exact dimensions of the joint in Alfonso's design. The interior will be connected to one side, while the exterior will be connected to the other. This will avoid any possibility of dropping and breaking. If it breaks once complete, your heart will be broken too, I suspect.

I built a couple of test rigs using modified versions of Alfonso's design, and I could not get the thing to be strong and stable enough for my liking. It needs to be "Chris Proof", because I *KNOW* I will knock the model around prior to assembling it and hanging it from the ceiling.

I may investigate actually using rare earth magnets to attach the outer portion of the SARJ to the inner; so that they can be "snapped" off and only put on the model in the final stage off assembly/hanging. believe me, those magnets are STRONG.

Everyone's models are looking incredible! Great work.
