Great piece. The ISS model is a bit too dauting for me. All you need now is a starscape backdrop and it would be hard to distinguish at a glance in a photo. Good eye for detail.

MICHAEL,
it's been a while since I have looked in this thread. Your ISS is very cool, I would really like to build one but I would have to move to a bigger house with more celing space. Great build!

I would love to attempt to build the ISS. The web site is a bit daunting to a computer dinosaur like me. I'm not sure where to start and I get confused over the free and pay sections. I would like to have the complete kit before starting but I haven't been able to figure out how to go about this. Is there an easy way to do this? I'm not interested in the shuttle's right now. Just the ISS. Looking for a model of the ISS is what got me into paper modeling in the first place and I did build the kids version but this one is just too amazing not to try.

Hi CardboardCat,
It actually is quite simple, you just need to have either a credit card or a paypal account. Clicking on the ISS tab at Alfonso's site gets you to the ISS section. There you have several options, one is "single file ISS combo kit" for $25. This is the whole Shuttle payload shebang in one go. The others are all the loose ends and free Russian parts which were available as separate downloads before but now are packed into their own packages. And still free. If you don't know how to pay, then maybe someone in your neighbourhood does and is able to help you. So anyway, with that "single file ISS combo kit" and the two free ones you are done and ready to start! And when you are getting started, we're here to help in case you need it. Good luck! Hi Cardboardcat,
I realize the navigation is not easy, and I`m planning to improve my site in that regard. To get the ISS model in 1:100 scale, go to my ISS page: International Space Station Page There you`ll see links for the 3 files you need to build the model: -The ISS 1:100 AXM Combo kit (has the main parts including the whole truss) This kit costs $25 (Click the BUY button to purchase it) -The ISS 1:100 AXM Combo kit #2 is free and has the rest of the parts. -The ISS 1:100 AXM Combo kit #3 is free and has the whole Russian segment. Under each link you`ll see other links for the respective manuals. So there you have on one page all the files you need to build the ISS model. Now, each time there`s an update made to the ISS, I will add the updated parts on either of the Combos #2 or #3, whatever applies. Combo kit #1 will never change. |

even each and every plastic model of the ISS doesn't even come close (and their cost is ridiculously higher), and for some of the museum models I saw, they're not even worth comparing to sir Alfonso's...

Most museum models even still show the original ISS configuration, with the Russian "palm tree" power station on top of the Russian section. And indeed, Alfonso's ISS kit is scarily well detailed and documented.
