I built the AXM crawler/transporter, and found it very challenging. I know I don't have the skill to try this fabulous one. Watching with great interest.

Because its $250.00 to get it delivered...I'm a little reluctant to spend that much...but I would like to build it...will watch with interest for a long time

The journey of a thousand miles......

Greetings, First thanks to all who expressed interest in the thread, I will do my best to keep it informative. Kevin WS believe me I am not really sure if I can make one either but I think if I take my time I stand a good chance. The first step is to build the Chassis Frame, this requires cutting out about 30 pieces that will make the deck and then the criss cross girders of the frame. Below are a few images as I get started. I have done a few already I have learned two things, first, you to have a sharp knife. I just purchased a box of the new X-Acto knife Z series blades and I have to say that the tips on the #11 blades are definitely stronger than the standard #11. If you keep a check on Ebay you can get a pack of 100 for a good price and I recommend getting some. I was breaking several of the older ones per piece and the Z series will last at least one piece. The second thing I learned is you really need to invest in a good hole punch. I did and it made the curves much easier and uniform. My first piece took about 1 hour but as with all things I got faster as I got experience, now I can do one in about 10 – 15 minutes. Still have plenty left so I will keep you posted.

It looks very good so far!
Here you are any pics from the Darmstadt Space Days in 2012, where I have meet the Designer Mischa with the original model of MICRO-Artwork.

The last pic is the Swing Arm 1 of the next project, the MLP and LUT....which has alone 400 pieces....

What type of hole punch is working for you?

Thanks, erik

Hole Punch

Sparky00, I purchased the LIfetime Carbide 9 PC Punch and Die set from eBay. There may be better ones out there but this one is working fine for me. I think I paid about 30 bucks for it. A little pricey but it is so sturdy I will have it for ever and I know there is a lot more hole punching coming up. Looks much like the attached image.
