Hi Ken

Interest in the project, the Lunar Rover

The wheels might question the idea: the internal load-bearing structure is constructed. The mesh grille, printing experiments produced Trace Paper

Here is the translation I

A little transparent but just an idea. I continue to watch with interest!

The lunar rover is Hungarian-born architect Pavlics Ferenc so a little bit of special attention!
Congratulations to the dedicated outstanding work!

Merzo

Ken, Perhaps you can concentrate on the internal rib structure of the wheels and then cover them with a mesh material. I've seen a material I think would work, but I just can't remember where. --Ron

I don't think there exists any mesh that's fine enough for 1/12 scale. At this scale, it's almost like looking through a frosted glass. My first option is to design paper wheels for the 99%ers; there's always people like Billy who will take it to the next level. I have thought of using vellum paper, then doping them to make semi-clear.... lots of experimentation to do yet.

Ken

Dear Ken:
What about fabric stores and a see through silk, to glue over the printed page? I know it is not paper but.
2 cents worth,
MILES

Iteration #3.

I re-sized (the width) of the wheel; it was too wide. This iteration uses thin poster board instead of the standard .03 inch cardboard, to build the wheel structure (Picture 2). I didnt quite get all of the treads attached, but you can see the effect so far.

As far as covering the wheel with silk/nylon etc..; anything is possible. For now, I'll leave it paper. I'll wait and see how these wheels look attached to the Rover; then decide if the wheels need covering.
