Udon's LM @ 1/96

It is some week that i started building the Udon's model of the Lunare Module.
Assuming that I'm masochist, I choose to build it at half scale, and at the beginning all things went easily enough.
Here some picture of the first steps.

Then I would like to add some enhancement and I put some golden cover where there was only a texture.

The first difficulties came when I began the communication antenna.
The particular is very small at this scale, and my eyes and my hands aren't as able as they were some time ago.

But the Rendez-vous Radar Antenna was a nightmare, also because I'd like to reproduce the thin supports of the real thing vs the thick original version.

I'm here for now, and i'm not sure how far I can go with this project, but i would share with you my efforts.

More to come and more pics in the web album

Best, Nando

Nice, haven't done that version yet but I've heard it's one of the best out there.

That sure beats my little Canon Kid's model of the LEM, but about the same scale. Very nicely done

Half scale?

Whoa, Nando, you are my hero!

That was hard enough at full-scale. I love the enhancements you've made. It makes me want to go over my finished model with gold foil in the same spots.

I wish you the best with this build and I'd love to see it continue, if you can carry on with it.

Nando

That is looking really great. Quite a few years ago I did the same (actually very slightly smaller, at 1:100, though without the enhancements you are adding) so it IS possible! Stick at it, and you will have a fine model.

Thank You guys for the kind comments and encouragements.
Thank You WeeVikes, but, like Tina Turner says in the song: "... we do not need another hero ..."
No big progress, but I reworked with copper wire the front hand rail, because the original one it seemed too thick at this scale.
Doing and redoing isn't the better way to quickly reach the end of this project, but this is my way (like Frank sang... )

Thanks, Nando

Thanks romanmodels, You are doing an unbelievable work with the Firefly engine.

Some small, very small, progress.
I reworked the hand rail, positioning it closer at LM's walls.

I did the docking target, and I think isn't so good, but at this scale i cannot do something better.
Then I found the way to reproduce a decent VHF antenna, after many attempts.

The final result is good enough, for me.

With this I completed the major part of the antennas on the ascent stage ( a part a couple of S-Band and one EVA antennas), and now I can apply at the Reaction Control Thrusters ( 16 in total ).

Then the landing stage, a lunar ground, astronauts (?) ... a long way before the finish line

Best, Nando

Ok, the Ascent Stage is completed!
I added the remnant antennas and the thrusters.

Now we can go with the Landing Stage.

Best, Nando
