Parts 140 through 161 are various electronics boxes that mount onto the aft equipment bay. Most are simple box shapes. Once formed into shape they are glued to part 127 which has the corresponding numbers for each of the parts to show where each belongs. Keep in mind the proper orientation.

Parts 162 and 163 glue to the back of parts 164a and 165 forming the face of the LM. After making the necessary folds I colored the inside surfaces of the RCS mounting brackets with a black marker before gluing part 165 onto part 163. Please note that the interior surfaces (164a and 165) has a slightly smaller radius than the exterior surfaces (161 and 163) so there will be a small lip around the perimeter.

Before gluing part 164a onto the bak of part 162 I colored the interior surface of the window frames on part 162 black using a magic marker. The windows were cut from clear rigid plastic slightly larger than the templates (parts 164b).

I then glued part 162/164a to part 163/165. The RCS mounting brackets are formed by gluing the tabs into a "T" shape. I then carefully cut the hatch leaving the hinges uncut so that it opens toward the interior of the LM.

Parts 166 through 178 are for the front interior instrument and control panel.

Part 166 is installed between the two windows. It does not glue flat to the surface but attaches at the top and bottom of the part. Part 167 is folded in half for printing on both sides then attached to the base of part 166.

Part 168 is folded in half at about a 90 degree angle and attaches to the console.

Part 169a is basically a box shape with a couple rods sticking out of it. Parts 169b is a basic box glued to the surface of part 169a. Part 169c is folded in half for printing on both sides and then glued to the base of part 169a.

Part 170a is a basic box shape. Part 170b is formed into a slender tube and a bit pinched at the end to form the control stick. It is then mounted onto part 170a.

Part 171 is a bracket that attaches to the end of the control panel.

Part 172L and 172R are armrests for the control panel. The are asymmetrical shaped boxes with brackets sticking out of them. The brackets are rotated 90 degrees so that the red printing is pointed outside. The are then mounted to the control panel at the red printed attachment points.

Parts 173a and 173b are almost identical to parts 170a and 170b, except that the boxes have slightly different markings.

Part 174a is very similar to part 169a. Parts 174b and 174c are basic boxes attached to the surface to part 174a.

Part 175 is similar to part 168 except that it has a small tab that juts out from the centerfold.

Part 176 is similar to the part 171 but is at the opposite side of the control panel.

Part 177L and 177R are armrests identical to parts 172R and 172L.

There are 2 parts 178 which are folded in half for two sided printing and form the glare shields mounted near the windows.

Mike...Thank you for your comments. Credit goes to UHU02 for the project. It is his creation. I am just grateful he made it available for others to build.

Parts 179 and 180 are the outer inner and outer hull of the forward section of the LEM.

Part 179a is the inner surface. I first folded the partial arc under the floor at a 90 degree angle, then bent the rest into a large ring. Part 179b is just a tab used as a gluing surface to connect the ends of the ring.

Part 179c is the rear bracing at the aft surface of the forward section. It is glued to the edge of part 179a which gives it more rigidity and holds the proper round shape. Using a black marker I colored the unprinted side of the lip of the part since it will be visible. I also colored the unprinted side of the window frame and scope port. A window was made by cutting a clear piece of flexible plastic and using rubber cement to attach.

Part 180a and 180d form the outer surface. They form a simple large ring attached on the ends using 180b and 180c which are just gluing tabs. The ends of part 180d are small wings folded outward at 90 degrees that will later be used part of the brackets for mounting RCS thrusters. The unprinted side of the forward and aft lip of the part, RCS thruster brackets, window frame, and scope port were colored using black marker.

Even with much of the surface detail represented by printing, rather than actual structure, it is absolutely clear to me now that there is still an enormous amount of structural detail to assemble in this model!

Great job with the model, and the perseverance, Wichita!!

Yes, lots of structural detail. While there are lots of pieces and parts, so far the construction has been very straight forward.

On with the build!

Parts 181 through 184 form the switch panels on both sides of the cockpit.

Part 181a has several folds and glues onto the lower part of the left side. Note that the uppermost fold of the part is folded over completely and glued to for a 2-sided tab on the end. Part 181c forms a simple box that is attached to 181a in the position noted. Part 181b is a protection bar that is added after the rest of the panel switches are attached and positioned correctly.

Parts 182a through 182i form the panel switches. I penciled the part numbers on the back of each piece since they all look very similar. Parts 182b, 182d, 182f, and 182h have part of the piece folded over to form 2 sided printing on about half the piece. It also forms a helpful notch on those pieces to assist with the buildup of the panel. After building up the panel part 181b is attached.

Part 183a is very similar to part 181a except on the right side of the cockpit. Parts 184a through 184g form the panel switches for the right side and are handled same way as parts 182a through 182i. After building up the panel on this side part 183b protection bar is attached.

Once the glue holding the panel switches has fully cured I used flat tweezers to bend the two-sided portions of parts 182b, 182d, 182f, 182h, 184b, 184d, and 184f so that they form the correct angle over the switches.
