Now to start the skins of the Descent Module.

I was unable to find any part numbered 344.

Part 345a is the main skin for the top portion of the Descent Module. Parts 345b/c/d are skins for the brackets where the Ascent Module connects. Parts 346, 347, 348, and 349 are additional skin panels on the sides of the Descent Module. All pretty self explanatory.

Part 350a is the main skin for the bottom portion. Parts 350b (there are 4) and 350c (also 4) are basically gluing tabs for attaching the skins to each other. Part 351 and 352 form the protective shield around the engine bell.

I taped the skins in place to make sure everything fits well. Before applying realistic finishes to the skins, I wanted to prepare the skins for the landing gear as well. However, I think skinning the landing gear will be quite challenging, and I don’t want to damage the model by handling too much. So instead of skinning the landing gear in place, I am thinking of detaching it, applying the skins, then reattaching later in the build. My main concern with that approach is how I can reattach them securely.

Simply an amazing model! Great seeing it come together. I'm nervous just thinking about you skinning the landing gear. Skinning and then attaching does sound like the more practical of the two (both tricky!) options. Willing you on and am sure you will do a great job.

Regards

Kevin
