Then your old protection net was a clever choice, very close to the original.
I'll say it again and again, you have to just open your eyes, even if this stuff is not made ​​of paper.

Another possible source of mesh might be the stuff found on disposable paper paint-strainer cones you can usually find at a hardware store. Just cut the cones apart and cut out the mesh. In this scale, though, you might need to join a couple of pieces to get the right shape, but there are natural places to hide the join lines. But what you've done looks nice.

Wonderful modelling Michael. It looks like the real SM.

I have always found it interesting that there was never an incident where these unprotected bars, or the RCS thrusters were damaged on lift off or on their way to space. I guess there is just enough bow shock off the CM to direct the air around them.

Now I have finished the 16 steering nozzles and the big engine nozzle...
And then it was necessary to built a base.
The next will be the upper completion.
