Apollo SM 1:12
Hi,
after finished Ken's Apollo CM, I've gone crazy... ![]() I would like to try to construct the SM.... It will be surely not so detailed, but let's see. Maybe I can do it, maybe I give up. The start is the internal structure. At first the inner tube with the bottom and the oxygen tank at top.... Then follow the inner walls. I found out, that the 6 rooms are all different in the width. 1 and 4 are 50°, 2 and 5 are 70° and 3 and 6 are 60° = 360°. At last at this time the upper end deck. The structure are from the SM-model of C.W.H (Surfduke), but I will tune this with any parts... Important is, that the stucture exactly lies right over the chambers. |

Hello Michael,
slowly but surely I'm worried about you, you must really be addicted, your ambitious power and speed are incredible. ![]() ![]()

Thank you, yes it is a challange, also because I have no 3d-Program.
So I work with corel draw. The next steps are the inner parts. At first the tea cans...sorry, the oxydator- and fuel tanks. Beginning with the parts of section 3... |

Thank you very much!
Now it goes on a piece..... I finished section 2 and 3 and the section 1 walls. Also I finished the upper wall outside. And at time I make the outer wall of section 2 and 3 with the little nozzles. (Hi, PK! "tax nozzles" ![]() I hope to make this for possible to open. |

I have to agree with Manfred on this, Michael, the breakneck speed you keep on squeezing out these models is amazing and a little worrisome... (-;
Anyhow, you're off to a great start. Carl Hewlett's parts are holding up very well in this upscaled version. And as always, the build looks very good, clean and precise. Oh yeah, a good way to talk about the tax nozzles would be to just call them by their abbreviation; RCS thrusters. But I still do smile when I read tax nozzles. (for those amongst you who don't get the joke: the German word "Steuer" translates to "to steer" but also means "tax". Which is funny.) |

Thank you PK!
Now I finished the sections 2, 3, 5, 6. And made the outer skin for these. At first I wanted made it like a door or to return, but it was not that, what what I imagined. Now I have made windows to look inside the sections and I think, that's a good way. The next step is filling the section 1 with the SIM-Module....(From Apollo 15) BTW: Can evryone give me links or pics with the text, which is written on all the little labels or signs around the top of the SM (like the label on the nozzles)? |
