I know for Orbiter (Space Flight Simulator) a lot of people use GIMP.

Thanks Phantom, I tried GIMP and like it much better than Paint but I have a problem where when I export it to a pdf, I can't figure out how to get the parts to keep their size. Every time I open the pdf to acrobat reader they are fit to the page.

I am a fellow Gimper and I think I can help.

1. Just make sure the resolution of the image is correct. I always use 300 dpi which gives the best results.

2. Resize the canvas so that it has the dimensions of the page size.

3. Move the image a bit away from the top and left rim of the canvas to make sure that the parts are printed completely.

4. If necessary switch to the default paint bucket (black = foreground colour / white = background colour).

5. Image > Merge.

6. Save as *.png or export as *.pdf. When exporting as *.pdf make sure that the program you use does not add an extra rim around the page because that would scale the image down (switch all rim values to "0").

Another way is to print the image using PDFill. When doing so the original image size and resolution will be kept but the image is aligned with the top left corner, so all parts have to be re-arranged before printing a bit away from the corner to make sure that they are printed completely.

DONE!

The shape and curvature both look just fine with those 4 conical sections. Looking forward to seeing the final version

I'm no expert on rockets and such but it looks good from here.
