1/1000 VAB at KSC
Gang,
Here are some WIP pix of my current project: Lee Anne Ward's most excellent 1/1000 Vehicle Assembly Building at Kennedy Space Center as seen during the space shuttle era. This is a relatively easy build. The main structure is reinforced with foam-core board, as are the smaller building parts. In these pix, some of the parts are just dry-fitted. I also still have to attach parts to the roof and detail the doors. The model is available in the Files section of the Yahoo Space-Paper-Models group. Stay tooned! Very cool project. I love photos looking down the Saturn V stack from the upper levels of the VAB. Looking forward to more photos of your project.

Rescued from the Shelf of Doom (i.e., unstarted or unfinished kits)!!!!
I went back to the VAB after finishing Pioneer 11. I finally got the door frames on and added all the grilles to the VAB roof. The latter are raised structures, not just set into the roof. Still plenty of detail to add on the top. Amazing how many poles and antennas NASA has up there. Stay tooned for more progress! Les (Friendly Airplane Asylum & ex-NASA flack) |

Cool build of a very historic building. Great work!
That said, the whole build smacks of a dare to Paper Kosmonaut to build it, then add a 1/1000th shuttle stack and MLP/CT rolling out one of the doors.... |

Another pic that shows the roof grilles to better effect.

Great rendition of the VAB, Les. In a great scale. And still a lot of detail. However, it looks still a bit incomplete in my eyes without the firing room next to it, though..
Where can I find this model? Lee Anne Ward is on the Yahoo group but the model too? (and a big LOL at the Beatles pastiche!) |
