Thank you all :-)
So I decided to cut the windows, because I felt that it was a right think to do, but to be honest I don't have the backup plan for this situation 😁 I need to figure out, chow to put some sort of interior here. I have some idea, but I am opened to suggestions 🙂 I was afraid about the integrity of the cockpit, but it is not an issue at all. I reinforced the struts with the super glue, so It should be fine. I will probably cut a much bigger opening from the payload bay and just insert the interior (it will be very simplified probably) also thinking about the interior lights..

The initial test looks quite good I think. It will require some minor adjustments to the interior colour and dimming the light, but now I know I made the right decision

Looks great, like you're in the darkness of space peering in at the cockpit lights. Tiles make for a nice finish texture too.

A wonderful model! Yes, the transparent windows and the interior added much to the result. It looks great! I am myself an enthusiast of gluing together multiple small chips of paper but your thermal shields are really a ten-thousand-pieces-puzzle!

Another progress here. The OMS pods are now complete. I am working on the thermal protection now.

On the orbiter itself, I still need to finish the rear part of the belly, the vertical stabilizer and I will make hopefully better nose cone. Then it will be mostly scratch building the cargo bay, satellite and all the stuff that was in the cargo bay during STS-49.
The last part will be the stand and the whole display.
