At times it does seem a lot of effort. Hopefully I will be able to finish the model and it will turn out to be worth it.

Thumbs strengthened

Dear all

So after the index fingers were completed I decided to return to the thumbs and strengthen them

Middle fingers

Dear all

Next up I moved onto the middle finger

So things followed the same pattern as for the index fingers "at the glove factory". Here are some photos at various points.

Life-Size Buzz and Neil (enlarged 1/4 Ken West "Apollo Astronauts on the Moon")-sdc14371.jpg Life-Size Buzz and Neil (enlarged 1/4 Ken West "Apollo Astronauts on the Moon")-sdc14373.jpg

But then there was a problem. When trying to fit the tip to the finger (or should I say, fit the distal phanlanges to the middle phalanges) the diameter of the tip was too large. I am nt sure what I did wrong but there was only one solution I could think of and that was "crumple" the end a bit. This photo shows what I mean

Life-Size Buzz and Neil (enlarged 1/4 Ken West "Apollo Astronauts on the Moon")-sdc14376.jpg

I could then fit the two parts together (though the join is not very good at all)

Because of this bodge joining I felt the tip ws not held on that strongly so decided to combine inner strengthening strips as also additional joining the tip strips by folding over the ends (see photo below)

I then continued to make and strengthen the rest of the finger

I had this issue to varying degrees with all the middle fingers but they are now completed

I hope the remaining fingers go together better
