Yeah, where IS the year 2000 that was being promoted in the 1970s?

I too was quite underwhelmed. Not in the least because of Branson, but also the aforementioned uninterested passengers. They could easily just have made a flight on a Vomit Comet instead of the high altitude flight. The broadcast was flawed, okay, stuff like that happens. It all looked like the ultimate jetset billionaire egotrip.
The flight stayed under the Kármán line and to me, that is where space begins. And 100 km also is a more round number. Bezos also is a billionaire and will be flying soon. I do not like Bezos either. But the positive thing with his flight is he'll take Wally Funk with him. She deserves that flight. I hope she will enjoy every second of it. |

I have been trying to put my finger on why this and similar reporting recently has seemed so poor.
I think the answer is quite simply is the productions are facile and superficial. Lightweight social media bias, and "now let's move on to the next astounding, amazing thing!". Ta ra. Gush gush. Flash teeth. ------------------------------------- I still remember the flights to space and the moon (which I saw as a kid) - I recently watched these again. Great productions even for their time.
