x-15 model
good morning ... me again.
sorry for my questions if they are not in the right place. I appreciate your responses in advance. -Is there a detailed X-15 on paper? something like the CANON space shuttle, the axm, or the fortezza? -And especially do you have those "rare" and "exotic" wing fuel tanks, orange and white? ... the x-15 crossed 80 km ... so it is a spaceship ... not an airplane ... therefore this question goes here ... and not in airplanes. |

Sold on Ecards. You can also find a build thread here in the forums.

Ken West's X-15A-2 (the one linked to above) is very detailed. It's a great model. But it is the X-15A-2, and the tanks offered aren't the colorful ones.
There are also a number of X-15s (including different versions of the X-15A-2) in the download section here. Henry Yuang designed one, and YukonJohn and Cardist did several repaints. Here's a build thread for one of the Yuang/YukonJohn X-15s: Let's Build the X-15! |

Thank you very much for your answers ... it is a great help,
sorry for contributing so little or nothing. emmm ... I wanted to say free ... so the ecardmodel is discarded, because as I said in another thread (it is becoming a very repeated phrase), here in South America, especially in the "south", we hardly get enough money to eat. so I strongly embrace papercraft, not plastic models (here, some models cost as much as a REAL USED CAR). I will look closely at what they offer me. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. |

question:
I see you did a lot x-15 Is everything you posted about the x-15 free? everything in the download section is free? for free models? If so, I will test the x-15s that are in the download section. I mean ... Obviously, if I wanted to, I would look for the model that I like and the most detailed one and download it illegally, BUT I DON'T DO IT, out of respect for the hard work they worked on them. ...by the way ... there is an x-15 from the brand "THAI paperwork". (unfortunately someone "released" it, and I don't know if that's legal) ... look for it, it's on google images. |

Everything in the Downloads section is free.
After Ken West’s X-15A-2, I’d say the Yuen/YukonJohn/Cardist repaints are the best out there. Low parts count, relatively easy construction and I can attest to the accuracy of their markings. You can build all three X-15s at various points in their service. |

ok ... this happens:
I saw each and every thread, about the x-15 you built. (all and each one) if you search for "X-15" ... and "X15" (without the "-" (slash)) in the download section are: -the original of yuen (the only one that brings a thumbnail photo in the download section) -6 versions of yukon -1 versions of cardist ... plus its wheels (I guess the wheels can be used on anyone (?)) and these are missing ... nasms-x-15 NASM's X-15 X-15-1, 66670, from December 1960 through February 1961. The aircraft still had its XLR-11 motor My X-15 obsession, Chapter 9.... November 1961, X-15-2, 66671, two patches of white paint The first Mach 6 X-15.... one of Neil Armstrong’s missions and one with the landing gear down. 9 December 1960, X-15-1, 66670, One of Neil Armstrong's X-15s.... It would be a shame if they are missing. just a few more questions: -There are only 2 versions of the A-2 in downloads? (white version ... and black-orange version with lower stripes) -Is the original version of yuen "generic"? not "historically realistic"? sure yukon and cardist are ... I saw them. I mean yuen's work, and the rest, EXCELLENT. I don't want to demean anyone, even if it's not historically accurate. Thank you so much. |

GELI from Germany also has a very nice X-15. Not highly detailed but a good, attractive model.

As I recall, there should be three versions of the X-15A-2 in Downloads -- YukonJohn's redesign of Henry's model into the lengthened 'A-2 (in the summer 1966 markings), YukonJohn's white version, and Cardist's pink version. The ground-handling dolly Cardist designed can be used on any version, but you'd have to modify the ventral stabilizer to remove the rudder (which was jettisoned prior to landing, parachuted to Earth and was recovered) and you'd also have to scratchbuilt the forward landing gear. Henry's original version could be considered a "generic" version and, as best I recall, is relatively accurate. The issue that arises is that X-15 markings changed with some frequency, so to insure accuracy, you pretty much have to pick a flight that you have some good photographic references on. The problem there, though, is that the photos are often only from one side, and the upper vertical stabilizer/rudder markings were often different on each side. For example, a "generic" X-15 might have the serial number and yellow NASA banner on both sides, but the vehicles often flew with the banner on one side and the serial number on the other. And the sizes and fonts of the "NASA" and serial numbers could change from flight to flight. The repaints that YukonJohn did were greatly aided by research done by Jeffrey Kubiak of Hypersonic Models. |
