I'm Back... and finally building AXM's Space Shuttle!

2009 has not been a good year for my model building- until recently. Among other things, college and making money online have distracted me.

I finished up the Columbia Space Shuttle Model from Delta 7 Studios last month before starting the AXM model. I have completed the STS-127 configuration Space Shuttle Endeavour orbiter and am now building the tank.

One thing I have done differently with this model is cut out all the parts first- and then started building.

On Saturday I took the completed orbiter part over to Titusville, FL and got a nice shot with it and the VAB, which you will see in the video (link below).

I have pictures on the model and a video published on Associated Content.

Thanks 2Kamser! Tonight at 1:10 am I'm going to hopefully watch the STS-128 launch of Discovery.

Glad you enjoyed the video!

Nice one.

I love the AXM models, not many parts so they don't take long to build and the results are stunning.

I built STS 1, here is a model of it on my website

Great looking model Robin. Less than 150 parts is pretty good for an entire stack. The model is a lot simpler than I originally thought it would be. Looks like you made it where the orbiter can be removed from the stack?

Thanks

Yes, the orbiter can be removed as I wanted my son to be able to separate them if he wanted to when 'carefully' playing with it.

I used a few bits of adhesive backed magnetic strip which works a treat as it has enough magnetic force to keep them together as a stack when posed vertically and has low enough magentice force to be able to pull them apart easily without wrecking either orbiter or fuel tank.

As you said, it looks a complex model but really isn't.
