Shuttle Mission Naming

i once found or to be more precise stubled across an article at nasa homepage that described the criterias that make up the STSxxx mission designation/name having not being able to find it again i wonder does anybody of you know this? now i believe it is just incremental but in the beginning they were different like one being STS 124 next STS214 or something /Håkan

hi muffin, you're the man
i have been looking for this inf for abour 3 years now, and one thread here and presto... they really had some complicated naming going on there for a while, glad they settled for sequential naming instead so you know where in the timeline a particular mission is once again thank you very much for helping solve the mystery best regards Håkan
