GPM Smialy Armoured Train

I need to start another long term project, so I thought this might be a good one. I am sure I will work on and finish other projects throughout this build, but this will be my main focus to start 2015.

This particular edition provides the builder with TWO complete models, one is 1/25 scale the other is HO. The HO part is nothing more than the reduction of the 1/25th parts. Unfortunately it is printed on the same thickness paper as its larger scale cousin. I won't be building this smaller one...Maybe Texman would be up for it?

My first step will be to translate the instructions. I don't want to miss any special steps or anything so me and google translate will become good friends for the next couple days. Therefore don't expect any photos of knife and glue to paper for a little bit.

Great stuff!

One of my hobbies is armored trains - have masses of obscure literature on themetc.

And would love to make this model - space is an issue though!

Good luck - will be watching with interest!

I love this train as well as this model. I haven't worked the courage up to attempt mine yet, so I'll be avidly following your progress! Best of luck with it!

Thanks everone for checking in! Made it through almost half a page of instruction translation during lunch today. I have a page and a half left.

Its helping understand some things, others not so much as the translation is slightly wonky. Google translate may not be perfect but its better than trying to use a Polish to English dictionary to do the same thing.

I'll try to take some pictures of the parts and post them. Maybe just the HO pages for a general over view. BTW the part pages number around the 30 mark but they are of A4 size. This is a much smaller kit than the other polish armoured train that GPM published, the Pilsudsyk or whatever its called. I do have an extra one of those if anyone is interested. Send me a PM with an offer if you are.

The Smialy has three: an artillery car, an engine, and a personnel box car.

The Pilsudczyk has four. They are a bit longer than those in the Smialy. It is the biggest model by page volume that I have: 30+ A3 size pages. Until the Gallery in my house is cleaned out of other peoples junk and I can put shelves up, it will remain in book form.

I look forward to following you new build. Good luck with the translation too.
