I'll need to kick myself to continue with the rails. I have a lasercut set for rails that I have started but I'm not really thrilled with the sleepers, they are just white cardboard rectangles without any texture.
Not only the lack of textures bugs me though, those sleepers (and rails of course) are from a Polish company, hence they are European style sleepers while in the US in the mid 19th century those sleepers had more of a random shape and lacked uniformity in size and shape.

If we're talking 1869 transcon authentic, find a few "right size" twigs and use them. Neither UP or CP (Central Pacific, not Canadian Pacific ) were too particular about what they laid in those final days headed for Promontory. The worse the roadbed looks the more authentic it would be! lol!

Well, time to get some work done again.
It took me a while, but I think I've found a way to transfer blanc cardboard rectangles into semi realistic looking beams that might pose as sleepers :

And the sleepers are placed on the base, I intentionally did not use a ruler and cut a few of them just a little shorter to abtain a little "shabby-essnes" (new word).

And finally I can close this chapter as the tracks are finished as well, so allow me to harass you one final time with the endpictures of the build :
