Ok now the forum is updated and back to normal, I think it safe to carry on with the build thread without it going missing.

fixed the bogies in place added the sand pipes I used some steel wire bent to shape and then slid some heat shrink of about the same size over most of the wire to look like a rubber hose with a metal end. a bit of a fiddle to glue in the right place and position.

added the hand brake linkages.

made up the horns windscreen wipers and driver's cab door handles.

and then the buffers.

and fixed in place.

side view.

side view with the rest of the roof covered with 3000 grit wet and dry paper

and from an end.

next added the top plates to the roof for the pantographs and the exhaust vents for the cooling fans.

the vents on the exhaust boxes were printed detail so I cut them out and backed the new opening with black card and then cut thin strips of grey card
to stick on to look like open louvres. steps are shown in the pic.

that's it for now.

This entire build has been quite astonishing, but those bogies are amongst the finest pieces of modelling I have ever seen, and put most plastic models to shame.

belated thanks Siwi, Rifleman, Michael, Erik, ricleite.
sorry for the delay in updating this build thread.

Fan exhaust housing fixed to the roof along with the catwalk.

insulators and panterghape mountings in place.

wiring fixed in place.

panterghape parts.

base frame

there were good drawings of the pantographs but there was still some head-scratching as to how they when together started off whit the front lowered pantograph sitting in it jig to get the lower arms in the right place.

with the top parts in place.

most of the headskraching was over the springs that operate the pantograph these can be seen on the base of the raised pantograph and the jig has been altered for the raised position.

the top part.

and fixed in place.

pantographs fixed in place on the loco.

and that is it, all done will post the finished photos at the weekend.
