SAR Class 5 steam loco
Scratch built SAR Class 5 steam model loco. The original engine was built by Kitson and Co in the UK in 1903. They were of the 4-6-2 wheel arrangement and were known as the Karoo class as they spent most of their time working in the arid semi desert areas of South Africa. Some of the later variations of this loco worked on the SAR until 1969, the model is in a livery depicting an industrial user, many SAR loco's were sold to mines and other industrial users after withdrawal from SAR service. The model is approx 1:48 scale.
