I find the exposed steam locomotive’s mechanism fascinating…

Thanks, Michael

3 different sized tanks. The smaller ones will fit above the deck. The strips to fix the larger tank were a bit short but the missing bits will be completely hidden. I should have reinforced the supports on thicker card. Some white bits of paper remain visible. It is quite common for me to notice those minor problems only on the enlarged pictures and take corrective measures later.

The boiler assembly is complete, and the pictures show the sequence to mate it to the frame. The thick cabin base was glued first and effectively fixed the boiler assembly position to the frame.

You can see that the inside wall faces, which are reinforced with 0,5mm card, are a bit smaller than the outside faces, so that the card is suitably covered. The front wall fit nicely on the boiler.

Beautiful clean work Ricardo, I'm still puzzled why there are no glue spills visible at all !
The drive mechanism of steam engines is truly a magnificent technical feature and very well detailed in this model.

Cheers,
Erik

I agree. Clean work. What kind of glue do you prefer?

Thanks for the comments, friends For the smaller parts, I use UHU white glue. It is quite consistent, far from liquid. So, if used parsimoniously, I don’t find it so hard to avoid spilling it.
Some cabin fittings, put in place before adding the rear wall. All those walls take many rivets. For the curved plumbing, I used paper coated thin wire.

Adjusting the sand pipe’s shape is not my favorite task. There are assembly drawings but no real templates, as the pipes curve in 3D. Well, it is a matter of patience, following an iterative adjustment process…
