[GPM] Polish Armored train Danuta, 1939, 1/220 Z.

You know my interest in armored trains and Z scale.
So here we go again, for the first assembly of the year.
Take a good paper model, GPM HO scale (1/87).
Reduce to Z scale (1/220).
Start cutting and gluing, beginning with the easiest wagon.
The chassis and wheels are supplied by a used Märklin refrigerator, duly butchered and shortened.
A real pleasure!

As someone who also has an interest in railway models of all varieties, I will be following your progress and excited to see the model come together.
Maybe you have shown this before, but do you run these with motors in the locomotives as a real model railway? How well do they stick to the track being so light?

Hello and thank you for your interest.
Indeed, whenever possible, I try to motorize the train with a Marklin or Rokuhan Shorty chassis.
To ensure a minimum weight, I can add ballast in the cars.
The trickiest part is dealing with the tight radii of curvature of miniature track compared with real track.

Here, after final details, is the first car of my armored train. This is a single unit.
It received a patina juice for the operational aspect, followed by matte varnish to protect and unify the appearance.

I'll continue with the protection wagons, which are used at the front and rear of the train to protect against mines and other obstacles. They can also carry track repair materials and other items.

Here's the result.
And as I finally decided to make 2! Polish armored trains, the wagon was made in 4 copies.

Indeed, when the first post went up I was thinking, "How the heck are they gonna build it in Z scale?" Then I saw who it was and thought, "Aha, no problem then!"

Thank you for your comments!

Each car was armed (in 1939) with a 100 mm howitzer 14/19P in the lower turret and a 75 mm wz. 26/02 in the upper tower. Badass, isn't it?

And I can confirm, it's Z (1/220) or I've got really big hands.
