CPY recolour build

Thanks Dave. The build is going slowly as I am doing another recolour at the same time and using the build (counting rivets ) to check the alignment of the recoloured drawings. I hope to post some more pictures in a couple of weeks.

Again, much appreciation to Mr. Rose and Rubén for the beautiful original work.

Regards,
John

A c47?

In Grande Prairie tonight on the highway back home after a long drive south, then to continue the recolour next week. Are you looking for C-47s in civilian or military skins? Rubén's CF-CPY represents a former C-47 in civilian livery.

Regards,
John

Last year when finishing the original kit I re-painted it to represent the C-47 shown in this link, which is a C-47 used by the Colombian Air Force. One of the very first C-47 that flew in my country, and it is currently guarding the entry to the Air Force Base in Bogota.

Photo Colombia - Air Force Douglas DC-3 FAC667

Yukonjohn's add-on to the kit (the alternate engines) add a lot to it, and make the kit to be more a C-47.

I have thought on repainting to a "classic" C-47", but two things refrain me to do so. Well, three things actually:

- The kit already provides blank templates for anyone to paint their own version.
- From the thousands of available options, which one to do? I could paint one, but then some person would prefer another, and then another, and another.... at the end it would be very difficult to please everybody. If there were consensus on just one... there are too many "Invasion dakotas" to choose from.
- I personally prefer to see this plane in civilian colours. There are some really interesting liveries.
- I have no time currently to engage on such a big project.

In any case It would be very nice if some one decides to use the blank templates to create a military C-47.

Kind regards.

Ruben, first I want to thank you for this GREAT model and all the time and effort you have put into it. I didn't want to pressure you about the 47 and your right everyone will want there version, so can't blame you for not wanting to mess with it. I didn't know there is a blank version out, guess I missed it, so maybe I'll try to do my own..........Rich

Ruben, are you thinking to publish the DC3 in Colombia's Air Force colors, please?
