That's entirely possible; the major point is that no one really knows for sure when it comes to turret roofs.

Yesterday and today I worked on the turret awning supports and the railings. Not a lot done due to other commitments, but these boats build pretty fast. As an experiment the is printed onto tissue paper then cut out and glued in place.

Also started work on the weathered USS Onondega. She's being protected by two Canonicus class monitors during her construction.

It looks like you are coming right along with this little project. I like your turret awnings, they add a lot to the build. Looking forward to more as you go.

Finished up the repainted Canonicus, one version is all closed up and ready for action, the other is with everything opened up between battles.

Here's some more photos of how the Canonicus compares to other ironclads (USS Monitor and USS Lehigh), and more detailed photos of the Canonicus.

I want to thank Avery over at InPaperDesigns for designing this ship and not going bonkers when I messed with his excellent design.

If I went bonkers there'd be something wrong with me, you're having fun with it and being creative and that's what it's all about. And the result, incidentally, is a fantastic looking model.

Excellent builds!! This is definately a museum quality model.
I like your turret awnings, too...well all you canvas work. It really brings a sense of realism.

I'm afraid that my museum isn't even in the same phone book as Deckape's but thanks for compliments.

Hey Knife, a question for you.

I'm wanting to do a recolor of Avery's Passaic class monitor, as the USS Nahant. (Am reading the book "A Year on a Monitor and the Destruction of Fort Sumter")

On your Canonicus recolor the texture of the main deck, how did you achieve it? It almost looks like you cloned a stone texture to create the effect. And the white of the smokestack and turret awnings. It looks like you used an antique white or cream white, instead of plain white.

Thanks
