Hull up to flight deck level

The hull is now up to flight deck level minus of course all the crossbeams. This is going to be time consuming, that is a big flight deck to support. I have still to work out the height of the side lift housing and where to put the final two joints. Also there are some bits to add into the hanger space and I will probably have to cut away some of the deck.. As you can see the flight deck is not glued down as yet but it seems to fit reasonably well.

The rust has been picked out by about 200% in this lighting.

Looking great, Barry! The flight deck seems to fit very well... I thought it was glued down, so I didn't understand the first part of your post (that is what happens when your too excited to see the pictures before you read the entire post!). Thanks for the update!

Lower hull closed up

I added the side lift housing which fills the last section of the hull plating. Of course the hole was then so large that I will have to add a believable hanger space inside ,even if it will have a fat helicopter sitting on the lift platform.

It's not the easiest piece to fit in closing up the hull but at least now I can take the last measurement for John.

Hanger entrance

Hi John

Yep I had the feeling it was going to be too large a hole to ignore. Luckily I found a pic on the Navy site you suggested which shows it to be a hall with no pillars so it should not be too difficult to achieve. There is also a very noticeable entrance through the double skin at that point. I did check to see that it is possible to fit a CH53 in there with the blades folded.

Thank you very much I got the generic deck file mate I was just about to send you an email Honest I was.

regards

barry

Nice to see your nice model again here.
I must report that I copied your way. Painted rust on my ship.
