Just a small update today, I've added the A deck promenades. I didn't know exactly where to start the promenade, how far it would stick over to both sides.. So after taking a look on the front of the book the seam of the enclosed promenade deck matched the seam on the hull. So I did the same and added the promenade decks. Only to find out they came out wrong(!).. So the seams should not match as is seen on the cover. I was quick enough to notice this mistake to remove the promenades.. If one of you is going to build this model I advice you first to add the last part of the aft deck (part 34) to the promenades as seen in the insert in my picture, before continueing. After doing so the promenades will line up fine with the front of the model;
And the enclosed promenade on the bowside of the ship; And a complete sideview; Jerry |

Thanks for the heads up on that one Jerry, i keep glancing through the pages - did you have a print error on the base parts, can't remember off hand what numbers, but they dont match up at some point midway through the base. Your work is coming along very nicely Jerry

Thanks for the comments Don and Peter,
As for your question, yes actually there was a print error in the baseparts, the two centre pieces don't match up between parts 3 and 4, but that is of no problem. By the way, my model is printed in 1993, it appears that changes had been made to the model in the 1997 reprint, the bridge and skylights have a more rounded shape in the '97 reprint. And the funnels also appear to look different. |

The decks are closed! Today I had put on the last parts of the superstructure of the lower decks. Then it was time to put on the decks and cover the model;
Also there is a slight misfit here, the wheelhouse should line up directly to the deckhousing at B deck as you can see, by a few millimeters, it does not.. And then finally, the upperdecks or the boatdeck; Now it is time to start the superstructures on the boatdeck.. Jerry |

Another update and... misprint..
Yesterday and today I started building the superstructure on the boatdeck, also the wheelhouse and front of the B deck Promenade. I put up the boatdeck housing yesterday and added the upperdecks today. One tip, the windows on the B deck promenade are printed, I advise you to cut them out to get a better effect (see photo A) After all the boatdeck housing was "installed" I found another misprint in the kit. Both the Officers quarters as well as the deck covering them had strips to glue both parts together, one of them can be cut off, otherwise you will have trouble fitting the part (see photo B); And last a picture of the entire model with the deckhousing and upper decks attached I forgot to place a pen next to the model, but I do think the size is known by those who follow this topic by now; Jerry |

It looks very good, despite the misprinting.
Yours is definitively a reference for my Taschen model! |

Thanks for your comments Gerardo!
Perhaps after finishing the model I can write, if there is need for any, a reference guide for the model and include the changes I have made and will make (as for instance the funnelcolor is way off and the yellowish sheerline along the hull is also missing).. Jerry |
