U.s.s. Olympia 1898

Ahoy
My fleet is calling, now is the time to turn two on my fleet as winter grows near. I have a vast fleet underway that needs to be completed. Here is the Admiral Deweys flagship, in Pre Spanish American colors all Buff and white, 16 years ago I obtained a set of modeling plans from www.marylandsilver.com they have a vast set of plans in all era,s of sail a huge selection of Spanish american warships of all nations. I got a set of the Battleship Maine, Oregon, and the protective cruiser Olmpia they were scaled in 3 different scales 1.8th 1/16th and 3/32 scale mine here i made from scratch useing these plans in the scale of 1/16th or 1/192 scale pretty close to 1/200 scale. I put in a lot of detail on this old relic, As we all know she is in harms way of the dismantlers tourch. I hope that they can save her from that she is one of our natikns landmark of naval warefare.Part of our history that needs to be preserved for our generation to enjoy. As of now My Olympia is undergoing construction rail work and rigging along with the ships boats will complete this vessel. Here are the attachmnets of her.

Railing assembly finished

Ahoy
the railing assembly is done, I logged in 17 hours today my eyeballs alread have bags on them. tomarow I will get the rigging started maybe have it finished, Commadore Dewey would approve of her, I had the Oly laying around the boson locker for years every time i walk by her she keeps saying when in the sam hell are going to finish me. enough said I turned two on her last night and all of the day today. she is not weeping anymore. When I finish her I will start to finish up on the oregon, I have a lot of these old shipos laying around I want to get them done before I leave this world, for the railings I made a jig useing copper wire i bought from radio shack and a soldering tool made railwork simple. here are the pictures of the completed railings.

Shes Done

Ahoy

Commador Deweys Flagship is complete I logged in 14 hours. all of the rigging was done with plastic sprue, instead of useing monofilment ore stretched wire. A model this complex specially made from card sprue will fill the bill. Tommorow I will get some plexi glass and make a dust cover for her dont want any dust on her.

I rambled through the enternet got some more info on her, dont look good they are closeing her down from all public Novermber 22 of this year, they say some parts of ship isn,t structurely safe. In very bad need of restoreation. they also said if they cant find anyone to fund this restoreation they are going to sink her off the New Jersaey coat for a artificial reef. This is a discrace to our country and for all of my shipmates who perticipated in the spanish american ?war so our country can be reconized a nation to recon with. with all the fruitless wasteing of millians of dallars going to organizations that are as fruitless as tits on a bull. some how some where some one can help save our heritage of naval might for youinger generations to follow. Here are the finished pictures of Commador Deweys flagship. U.S.S. OLYMPIA Please excuse the pictures my camera,s batteries are going low again. I,ll put in a fresh set tommorow.
