U.s.s. Indianapolis 1945

Ahoy

Here is another one that needs finished I should have her done in a couple days. Useing Edward Weswesser plans from Taubman plans service in the scale of 1/192, I built this from the plans useing cardboard paper and card stock with turned wooden gun barrels. useing plank and frame assembley, I am restoreing this model it was once completed before and had an accident i had to repaur most of the work the peieces that got broken i still have in the parts box so all I have to do is to assemble same. I already have her water diorama saved it slips over the ship to simulate underway.

As to the history of the Indianapolis needs no introduction, she was the mission of the shark. One of the Navys worst maritime incident in our navy histiory. After her repairs at Mare Island New York she had orders to delliver parts of the Atomic bomb that was used on Hiroshima and Nagasaki sailing from San fransisco unescorted on the 16th of july. she sailed 5000 miles to tinian to deliver the parts, she pulled in at Guam and departed after midnight on the 30th of July Japanese submarine I-58 fired two fish into the indianapolis, as she capsized she left in the water 1,199 men in the drink only 316 shipmates survived the sharks took the rest no way for a sailor to die, here are a couple pictures of the Indianapolis I will have completed in a day or two.

thanks for your reply not to many fellas out there that dont know much about the Indiapolis, seeing your shipmate being eaten and bitten in half by a shark is the most horrible thing a human being can witness, no way for a sailor to die, I should have her done in a day or so I have two water dioramas I made for her here she is in her element
