Taking advantage of the holiday to catch up on some threads I hadn't looked at. Wow, some amazing work here on both.

Sorry I have not had a Chance to work on these in a while. Will be a few more months before I get back on them. The glue is simple white glue and CA.

Okay, I recieved my Modelik USS OKLAHOMA today. WOW! I have been modeling for 40 years and this si my first paper model. Did I bite off more than I can chew? Since the directions are not in english, this should be fun. Any idea on how I should start? I love this write up on the OKLAHOMA build. Any help would be GREAtLY appreciated.

Thanks
Joe

Joe - If this is your first paper model, my suggestion for the start is to put the Oklahoma aside and find a smaller simpler model like some of the older destroyer kits. The paper modeling require an entirely different skill set than most other forms and practice - practice - practice is best. Hate to see a larger more complicated build ruin your confidence.

Paper Fan,Thanks for the information. I have a couple of questions, if you don't mind? What type of glue do you use and you mentioned that you laminated the paper to the balsa wood? How did you do that? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Smile

It's been awhile but I have finally gotten back to the dual build. Have moved from NY and got side tracked having built a BF 109, a Zero, and the French Heavy cruiser Algerie.

The cranes, catapults and ships boats have been completed for both. Also added the aft mast search lights on Oklahoma. I will try to finish both of these over the next several weeks.

From photos I have seen Oklahoma's main crains were much shorter than those of Arizona.

I went ahead and framed up the IJN Kongo, Hiei, Fuso, and Ise. These will all be simultaneous builds.Hiei is GPM the rest are Angraf. Interesting note on those, Angraf's Kongo has a crowneed deck but the GPM Hiei does not. I believe this to be an error on the GPM kit. Fuso is also crowned.

Very nice series of photos.
Those cranes really look good.
