Some eye candy. I'm finally getting around to learning how to make pretty pictures in Rhino.

That's really looking good, Golden Bear ! A most distincitive-looking ship. The 1880's was an interesting period, still a lot of experiment and variation before all navies eventually evolved towards a more standardized pre-dreadnought layout.

Golden Bear,

Fascinating history you posted. Interesting problems caused by chain of command and CYA.
As already noted, it's one mean looking ship. Would not want that staring at me.

The new rendering rally makes it pop.
The uniqueness of the design makes it a sure build.

Hopefully I will be forgiven for showing so many screen captures without having cut any paper. That part won't happen until I return from my break. I hope to have the modeling and layout done by the time I get back.

I've added a lot of detail and have been playing with the rendering also. If anybody wonders why I only display the starboard side it is because I only model the details on one side to save file size - not because I don't have the disc space but because the program gets slower as the file gets larger.

Absolutely a fascinating choice and a pivotal time for warship design. This visualization is looking top notch and I look forward to another of your great works!

Nice Choice

Carl,

Don't get in the way of that main turret. That's the business end for sure...,

Interesting period of Naval Architecture in which explosive deliverables (hence big guns) were wedded to big steel ships (gunpowder is tough on enamel). Jackie Fischer figured it all out, but till then, you have one of the richest playgrounds of period pieces imaginable...,

Nice work on the Rhino pretties. Rendering kinda grows on you...,

Since Barry asked... some more detail added. New light guns, started on ventilators...
