First paper model built - ACW Mortar Barge

After years of building models, and having bought several paper models, and having even started one or two, I decided to sit down and actually finish one.

I chose the ACW 1/250 scale mortar barge from Papershipwrights.

It's a nice kit that goes together well.

I did "cheat" a little in that I used styrene rod for the bitts on deck, rather than even trying to roll the little paper ones.

The "river" is a vacu-mold piece that I picked up years ago at a wargaming show. I normally display some of my 1/700 FACs on it.

I'm building an LCS-1 class model right now, but will probably take a break from it to build some more ACW stuff.

A very nice piece of work and presentation. I applaud your sensible use of styrene instead of "rolling your own." I use other materials in my builds wherever appropriate.

If Moses didn't carry it down from Mt Sinai on his tablets, then it ain't a sin!

Great Job. Using other materials makes paper models more fun. You never look at bits of stuff the same way. Like hey I can use that piece of plastic for.... on my model.

I thought I was the only one who did that.......much to the chagrin of my wife.

Great build. I really like that base you've posed her on!
