Hi all,
Darn camera needed to be coaxed into working as the batteries were dead. Snap a pic, wait a couple minutes, snap another...argh! Excuse the quality but I promise better pics after payday. I just completed the rest of the large banding on the larboard side. I held my breath the entire time, praying that where the bands meet up on the bow, would be symmetrical. I got lucky I think Now it's time to switch over to smaller things like furniture, lanterns etc as I need a little break from this hull for a bit. Cannons might be an idea as well... Talk soon Ron

Much ado about nada
Hi guys :)
First off, thank you so much for your encouragement. It means a great deal to me as lately this is pretty much the extent of my socializing. As the title says, not much going on except for fiddly, annoying things like dressing up ports, a ladder, beginnings of the stern galleries (right words?), and a bit of 'self adhesive foil' on the bow. My glue supply just got replaced so I'll get a bit more done. The ladder itself was 22 pieces in total along with the trim around the hole in the deck. Right forward of it will be a grating which I need to study how to make. Any ideas folks? I saw online somewhere where the person made his using the plastic backing for some sewing/needle point project. It had a perfect hatch pattern with square cutouts etc. I'd like to do it out of paper and wood but want to keep my sanity! The stern will come together nicely I think. I just threw the picture in to keep within the spirit of 'paper'. I saw a gent's build of the Bellona on Konradus where a large part of the conversation was whether or not it should be allowed as he used veneer on his as well (mine was first nyah, nyah, nyah :)). The gun ports were simply cut out paper, clear coated with varathane and painted once again. I need to cut this short...I'm rambling and my wife is pestering me to go out. Thanks again for the encouragement! Ron

Joseph Fuchs' H.M.S. Victory
Ok, Ron, I'm penciling you in in my little black book of IOU's. Took me awhile to find it since Kartonbau has been through several eructations since Joseph posted it..,
The grating piece is toward the bottom amongst other ship modeling delights..., +Gil |
