V 108 (Digital Navy) 1/200
Dear friends,
here is my first completed ship made from paper ( and some other materials... ). I decided to make the well known free download in a new colour and show the ship in duty. V 108 was a member of a training flotilla since 1914 and it is shown by leaving her harbour for exercising. Some little sailors are added and also a lot of parts are scratchbuilt. The new colour ist made by paintbrush with acrylic and enamel colours. So see some pictures of the completed model and some little details too. Regards Micha |

The crew is made from photo etched parts by GPM, the captain is an own creation made from a GPM part and added arms of wire and a head of an old railway worker.
To get a 3-D-impression, i brought little drops of glue to the etched part for several times and finally they got the paintings. |

This is the best and most realistic V 108 that I have seen. You have wonders with a model that was very nice to start with.
Thank you for the information on your techniques for making figures in this scale. Don |

Micha, wonderful detail. The model looks fantastic. Do you do anything to the model before painting to prevent warping?

Dear friends,
thank you for your nice comments... I´m getting a little blushed. Building the V108 was a very nice job and i like my little boat very much. Some words to the paintings. In the first months i painted without priming on the pure paper using enamel colours by revell. It is possible but often only by dry-brush- technique thats why I had to repeat the painting 4-5 times to get a good result. Later , especially while painting details I used an undercoat ( Citadel Spray black) and got better results. The weathering I made with acrylic colours, the painting of the water too. Background painting is done with watercolours, an inspiration of a former artist, who often painted warships of the german fleet - Willy Stöver. If somebody is interested, follow the file to get the completed building report. ( sorry--- only in german): http://www.kartonist.de/wbb2/thread.php?threadid=1035 On this place I must thank the publisher of this well done model Digital Navy for creating a wonderful ship. Best regards Micha Last edited by LeBaron; 07-28-2008 at 02:23 PM. |

Hi Steve,
thank you. But don`t think so. My opinion is: Everybody builds his own model with his own inspirations and ideas and it will allways become a nice little unicat. Regards Micha |
