U.s.s. Essex cv-6 1943
Ahoy
Here is another one I just finished I have 47 more of these that need to be finished up before i go to something else. The Essex is the first of her class to supercede the enterprise class carrier. there were much need for the aircraft carrier and the Essex class filled the bill. these ships were practicallt unsinkable with a lot more water tight compartmenrs then thec early rival aircraft carrier we had before the start of the war. she is seen her waering her measure 5s dark sea blue that has been faded out due to hot sun and salt water, the measure 5s was short lived and it came to an end late in 1943 the dark sea blue faded out to fast and eventually they changed it to measure 32d useing different shades of gray ,black and white. her flight deck is stained with dark sea blue that is fadeing away due to deck traffic and landing and takeoff of her air wing. on her deck here is TBF,s SBD,s and F6F,s I have a few SB2-C Helldiverss laying around the house somewhere when i find them I will place them on the deck.

shes a thing of beauty!! Hey Skipper this guy says it right !!! Another stunner from you. I tell you what would be great to see, and that's how/where you manage to store them all. You build models at great pace has we all have observed and enjoyed here, have you always built at the speed you are at now, or was you even faster in your youthful days ? Your weathering effects are marvellous Grand dad |

I always have been a fast builder I used to work for a fella Mr. Fredrick Tyson a model broker he commisioned me to build 8 to 10 models at a time he would pay me for these builds the more I turned out the money I would recieve, at one time I was turning out 30 models a week, i was a lot faster back then, scince i am 70 years young I slowed down a notch. Ship number
I don't mean to be critical, as the build is fantastic, however, ESSEX is #9, not #6. Having served on ESSEX in the 60's, (The Oldest and the Boldest) I have studied the history of the ESSEX name and all her ships from 1799 to the present ESSEX LHD-2. I plan on building all of them.
Hull #6 was USS Enterprise May 1938. ESSEX was Dec 1942 and as you stated, the first of her class, 26 were ordered and 24 completed and placed in service. With respect EJ
