I ran across this in today's web travels. Interesting concept for a canal lock.

I saw a program about various locks around the world a while back. The Falkirk Wheel was featured. Very interesting stuff.
Here is a video of it working:

Hi everybody,

have a look at the Anderton Boat Lift. A more or less original boat lift still operating (after a serious restoration). Wikipedia has an entry on this lift http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anderton_boat_lift.

vriendelijke groeten (kind regards),

Christiaan.

Thumbs up

Don't know how i missed this thread. Really nice model you built there Kev. I love the canals, used to go along them way back.... my offer to help with the locks was always met with a "yes please" especially if they'd been at them all day. The boats are beautiful, seen a few restorations on a TV programme. I have a dream of a long holiday on one, one of these days. Your model with the coal really looks great.

You may just like this... ENJOY {you will}

In the kit is also a recreational boat. Basically the same hull, different superstructure.

I did not make it initially as I thought it may be too difficult in 1/160. Should have done it though straight after this build.

I will build one soon though.

I just have a couple of older projects to clear up first. Finding time is an issue!
