So...is the link working again and I just can not figure it out? I got the USS Skipjack as well as the nifty midget sub but to this one.

The Wayback Machine is very useful but I wonder what sort of legal ground they (and we) are on? Could a moderator possibly chime in here and give an opinion? |

Hey guys, Chapuzas100 is not an English speaker. He does not realize some of you are joking because translators cannot translate nuance. He believes he has given offense.
Chapuzas 100, your model is beautiful. We are happy you showed the picture to us. I have that model, too, and wondered if it looked nice. Since that link is dead, it is good that members are willing to share their files!

This model is not the one on Udon's Factory site. It looks like the one that was offered as a promotional item with the release of a Japanese movie. As such copyright infringement may be an issue here.

If you feel you need to have a certain model, you can ask privately, out of the admins and moderators view, we try to maintain some respect for the designers and copyright holders, and no I do not want this to de-evolve into a copyright argument. Quote:
I have used the Wayback machine in the past also, to retrieve models I knew were there, or used to be. I kind of adopted the European Union's way of dealing with pirates, in policing of Wayback Machine models or pages. I'll say something, and warn you, but you will not be banned or kicked off the board(The EU navies will capture the pirates, but release them back, no incarceration) As always, any questions, gripes, just ask Rick

I see your point, and I suppose that's the central issue: piracy/copyright infringement. I tend to look at the concept of file sharing as book lending. However, were the "powers" able to extend the restriction, we could not have lending libraries or lend books to friends.
But, this is a very sticky wicket one where the Forum needs to follow rules carefully lest we face sanction. I could see that happening in a worst case scenario. Thanks for the edification on the topic.

Major, You can do whatever you like
I also go by this quote from George Carlin, "Cop didn't see it, I didn't do it"

Yeah ... the wayback machine is a way of saying.
You can't argue with history. |

There is another slant to the "Wayback machine" argument... It is possible for anyone to stop the content of a website being archived by adding a "robots.txt" file with the appropriate directives to the website. It would stretch most authorities credibility to believe complaints by someone who claimed their copyright was violated by archive.org because they were incompetent in the use of the technology they used to distribute the copyrighted material.

Thanks Rick for the clarification. Suffice to say that the model is available at the Wayback Machine.
