"day tide" / jsc 291/ 1:250
Hello Friends,
You can find the original build report here: Day Tide / JSC 291 / 1:250 [FERTIG] - Bauberichte Schiffe - Kartonbau.de - Alles rund ums Kartonmodell Hello Friends, I wish to make a diorama including the Bredford Dolphin and an AHTS. There are several classes of Anchor Handlers, the Maresk A class, UT704 and IMT 966 are older but have beautiful lines. The AX104 being one of the newest designs. However there are very few models of this class of multi-function ship. I have settled on the NED8167L designed and built by Remontowa and first depicted in JSC 291 DU MOULIN TIDE (ToKro). The model was later revised and reissued as the Dutch Emergency Towing Vessel IEVOLI BLACK (Guther Plath) which serves in the same capacity as the NORDIC (Michael112) I wish to recolor the sheets to reflect the Day Tide, a vessel owned and operated by Tidewater Inc. one of the largest suppliers of Offshore Energy vessels in the world. Incidentally, the area where I grew up near Norfolk Virgina is called the Tidewater area and is where the company started many years ago. The Day Tide is based out of Port Vila and fly's the Vanuatu flag. Last edited by Hi-Torque; 10-10-2012 at 05:03 AM. |

And now adding the deck details. The JSC kits allow for a great deal of scratch building as many of the pieces are not included in the kit. For example: The anchors, winches, capstans, etc.
I wanted to fully show the working deck enclosure so here I am beginning the buildup of the framing. |

Very interesting build you have going there.
I worked for Tidewater out of Morgan City, Louisiana for a while back in the early 1970's. The boats I crewed were stationed along the Gulf from Venice, Louisiana to Galveston, Texas. I would usually pick up the crew vehicle in Morgan City and drive all over Cajun country to pick up the rest of the crew, then we would head out to where ever the boat was. Made a few crew changes via helicopter from the shore base when we arrived or from the rig if we were tied up there and our current crew time was finished. Some good fishing when we tied up at the oil rigs.

Hello Friends,
Thank you for your kind words! I spent about 40 hours on this one. @SCEtoAUX: Thanks! You know we have similar jobs, I am a Flight Mechanic (Well ok these days I do more supervising than flying) on long haul overseas aircraft. We are usually on duty for 20 days and off 10. I wish there were more AHTS models available asI really like the lines on some of the older ships and find them fascinating. I suppose all the rigs you worked were Jack-ups? It may take a few months, but I will eventually show the DAY TIDE alongside the BREDFORD DOLPHIN maybe racking an anchor. Friends, I do encourge you to look at the original report linked in the first post above at Kartonbau.de. I have a lot of supplemental information and pictures there. Kind Regards, Cris |
