Great to see that you're onto to another great build! Looks fantastic so far, can hardly wait until its done!
Use your threads all the time to show what can be done with paper when non-paper modelers are interested in what can be done! Mike |

Hello dear friends!
Thank you all for your kind words, I am very honoured and appreciate your praise a lot. I try to improve my work with each new model ( RC is my newest project), but I have to say that always find some mistakes and details which could look better. To your questions... The card strips used for second and third layer of planking were after cutting straight. On the bow and stern they were curved - I made this using steam. It is necessary to use high quality and resilient card. I decided to build RC in a scale 1/40, because I would like to create more details (especially in interior), better and more realistic decorations/sculptures and prettier crew members... I also used 1mm thick card for first layer - vertical stripes. First and second layer are glued to the cross, this technique provides better solidity. After third planking (using 1mm thick stripes again) the hull is very solid and smooth. It is necessary to grind the surface each time before next layer!

I decided to create treenails (used on English ships). On my model they are painted by 0,3mm wide tip of a micro-pencil. All are painted by Tamiya colours. The pencil tip was every time dipped into thin paint and after that was made one treenail on the hull planking.

The hull before painting of the upper part (sheer):
The real RC had blue/turquoise sheer, so I used the same colour on my model: The port side of RC and my small parrot "Paulie" who is all the time with me....

Lower part of the stern was probably decorated with paintings. On my model the paintings are hand-made using Tamiya colours as usually.....
Later the background was repainted into pale blue colour, this should be more realistic according to the real ship.

Doris, this is soooooo beautiful! I love the wood effect you painted on, and all the nails... It can easily compare to the best wooden models I have seen at this stage!
