HMS Matabele - a Tribal-class destroyer
Hello fellow modelers,
Today the start of a new build: HMS Matabele. Source: valka.cz The model is from Answer and I showed already something of the booklet in the reviews. One of the reasons I choose for this model are the pompom and the 12,7 AA guns. It seems that they were insufficient but they look grweat for me. HMS Matabele have both of them. More info about HMS Matabele or the Tribal class destroyers you can find on Wikipedia. For the hull I used laser cut parts. The fitting of the parts was oke. When fitting the lower hull I had some slight problems. Was it the kit parts that didn't fit well or was it lack of experience by the author of this thread Probleby the last. So I had to sand a lot. The upper hull plates went well. More to come. Ciao Andrew |

Hello fellows,
Don: I agree with you. The Tribals looks likes the real workhorses of the ocean. It would be great if also a HMS Kelly would be available. Kevin: I think I made the right choice. As far I can see will it be a great model to build. Thanks for te attached images. I'm happy with it. Well after completion of most of the hull parts I started with the lower deckhouse of the bridge. Everything fits properly. Following the instructions you have to make yourself some handrailings. I used for this some iron wire I had leftand glued them with ca glue. Nice job to do . I will continue to build first the bigger parts of the bridge structure and then the smaller parts for detailling. Ciao Andrew |

Ciao, Andrew.
The superstructure looks very good. I agree with you that a model of the historic Kelly would also be good to have. As you well know, the Js and Ks were very similar in appearance to the Tribals, with one less gun enclosure, and to my eyes also among the world's best looking warships. And I'll bet you have seen the film In Which We Serve. Don |

Hello fellow modelers,
Thanks for the comments. Mike: I will need all the luck because this model is more complicated then the Van Galen. All the support is welcome. Don: I know they are very similar with the J en K's. The HMS Lance from WAK I believe is also a nice project for the future. I have to admit that I didn't see the movie In which we serve. Gladfully we have YOUTUBE today. Verry impressive movie. I like the scenes when the ship went with full speed through the water and the pompoms and Vickers AA guns in action. Rick: nice to hear that you are following my build. I follow you too. Jos: great to hear that Scaldis have a new release of the "De Ruyter". I enjoyed your topic about Hr.Ms. Karel Doorman. Looking forward to this feature build. Regards Andrew |
