I have rarely seen such attention to detail in any model. Yours is an incredible build!

Hi, Adam

A friend just told me about this thread. I started building my HIEI in December last year. I am definitely not in your league but if you are interested, you can find my report in kartonbau.de (for some reason my post gets denied if I insert the actual link). Unfortunately it is all in German but there are of course the pictures.

I am quite happy with the precision of the model with some notable exceptions (it looks as if some measurements have not been correctly rescaled from the original Maly Modelarz scale of 1:300). Especially beware of diameters of the templates for the main battle tower. There are some nasty surprises there.

Hopefully you will overtake me at some time in the future so I can get some help and ideas from your report .

Andi

Andi;

I went and viewed your posting, some of it anyway. Your model is very nice. Between these two postings there is great information from both excellent modelers.

Thank you both and I will continue to watch with great interest.

Thank you Andi I had a look at your report, lots of interesting stuff However, my model is from GPM, which is a revised version of the one from Mały Modelarz, so many things like troubles with main tower is fixed.
I will be watching your thread

I made the bases of the turrents. Now I am thinking about how to make *the cloth* on the turrents...

In the next update I will show you guys all that railing related stuff, as I am now moving to the main tower

Great work on and around those turrets. . . with articulating gun barrels!
Very highly detailed. What a pleasure to see.

Hi, Hiob

I also have the model from GPM. I am very interested in how you will be building the 3 main struts through the main tower. And as I said before: check the diameters of the struts and the corresponding holes in the decks!

making the "cloth"

i've been working with oven firing clay to pretty good effect... if you're careful during the firing it does not harm the turret... see the latest posts on my warspite build log
