Parts 18aL and 18aR are the pathways for the anchor chain (I'm an airplane guy, so the correct name is unknown to me...). There are three openings in the deck and the bow sides, so you have three parts 18a.

Go Nickie Go!

And those are called chain plates, the hawsepipes being what they are aimed at. I am going to be buying this one from Mike as well so I will be watching to see how she goes together. From what I have seen from the ones I have already gotten from him, they are most excellent. Looking forward to your updates.

Yeah, we HAVE been needing a Repulse build thread. I'm pretty much going with "anchor chain thingies" on this one. If it was French maybe I could find the right word. (quoi?) Hmm. OK, I suck at naval terminology but I love ships.

I'm looking forward to some pictures of this one. A downloaded ship model is something special.

As not everyone has the model, a picture of the parts and where they go might help.

I just checked my copy of the kit and yes, they are the hawse pipes that lead from the main deck openings (3 black ovals at the bow) to the circular openings on the sides of the bow (circles on 18L, 18R and 20 R.) Note that they should be rolled with the colored side on the inside. I hope this helps.
