Escort corvette HMCS Midland - 1/400 waterline
Though I’ve been posting a lot of posts here, this is my first building review. I’ve began to built my own „Home Fleet“ – paper models of WWII ships in 1/400 scale. Some of them are public available models, but a lot of them are my own versions - redrawn, upgraded, new versions ….
I’d like to make a little warning. :-) I do know my building limits…… and I’ve got no patience to make a super detailed models. So this would be a collection of easy-built models. Hope you’d enjoy it. My first contribution is WWII escort corvette HMCS Midland, a small ship that protected alliance convoys on Western Atlantic routes. The source is JSC model of HMS Begonia, but I’ve made my own versions of 10 of these warhorses. Midland is first of them. Hull of ship is made from cardboard with reinforcement ribs. Hull sides and deck are glued on it. My first photos were made by phone, I’m sorry for lower quality. First superstructures & better pictures :-D ...to be continued .....

I really like this little corvette. I like your choice of subject and the level of detail of your models, which is about my speed (although I admire and respect those who can build beautifully detailed models).
And corvettes will always have a special place in the hearts of those of us of an age to have been influenced for life by reading Three Corvettes and The Cruel Sea and seeing the film. Don |

looking good, I look forward to seeing more. These corvettes were the work horses of the Battle of the Atlantic and Arctic convoys.
This short documentary examines the role of convoy ships during World War II, focusing on the Corvette Port Arthur. The corvette, a highly mobile weapon of destruction, is used to combat German U-boats and escort convoys through the Atlantic Ocean. Following the corvette through an encounter with an enemy submarine, the film offers a glimpse into a day in the life of the Royal Canadian Navy. https://www.nfb.ca/film/corvette_port_arthur |
