HMS Belfast 1:400 JSC

Last August, we visited England and I just had to take the opportunity to visit the HMS Belfast. Of course, then this winter, I had to try my hand at building the JSC kit of the Belfast.

Launched in 1938, the Belfast struck a German mine in 1939 and had to have extensive repairs completed before returning to action in 1942. She assisted in the destruction of the Scharnhorst and supported the D-Day invasion.

Beyond WWII, she served in the Korean War and was placed in reserve in 1963. Several years later, she was turned into a floating museum and resides on the Thames.

The second photo is one that I took as I left the ship.

The photos of the completed model.

I almost gave up on the plane but with a few adjustments, It seemed to come out okay.

Please excuse my photographic skills.

looks good. jsc aircraft are a challenge, the small parts and they use the cover stock as the paper used for forming.

Thanks CMDRTED,

you're right...not only was the size the issue but the
stock did not help either. They gave the parts for two
planes but I made a mistake or two on the first one
and had to use the second plane for parts!!

Herky,

There seem to be a few #1 tips that I haven't mastered yet with regard to paper modeling, but one of these days...maybe. Actually that would have been easy to do but I just plowed forward.

Thanks for the tip on flymodel.

Kevin,

Thanks.

As for time...that is hard for me to estimate. I started in the late fall but several times I put it on the shelf due to other commitments or I wanted to try my hand at other builds, like cathedrals.

I'm afraid if I kept track of my time, I would worry about it but since this is my hobby, I don't keep track and just enjoy the time spent modeling.
