It's always a pleasure to see another installment of the construction of this splendid model. To my eye, you have replicated the details and the 37mm revolving cannons very well, indeed.

17 – Bridge Equipment and Funnels

Thanks Missileer and Don.

I decided to create most of the final details of the forward superstructure before moving on. So I made some ladder material and various small pieces of equipment. Old photos show these pieces in different places at different times. My goal is to try to place them as they appeared in the earliest versions of the ship.

The funnels appear simple at first glance, but as I explored the details, I came to see there would be quite a bit of work. There are approx. 10 steam pipes surrounding the funnels. So this will keep me busy for a while. The historic image shows both funnels with their steam pipes.

Regards,
Mike

It is always a great pleasure to see more of your clean, precise work and to see the historical images of the actual ship.

Le projet marche très bien.

That's some impressively small work there. No surprise but impressive nonetheless.

The bridge area looks fantastic Mike. I intend to try your technique for making railings and ladders, but always put it off for another day when I realise how fine the work required is. And I am looking forward to seeing the funnels on the ship. They always make a ship model come to life for some reason

Thanks Shipbuild, Elliot and Tomek.

Thanks Robert. I have used the railing technique since 2009. So it works well.
I don't know of any other builders doing it quite the same way, so let me know if you try it. I hope it works for you.
