Hi!

Great job on the funnels! I wonder about the life boats. They seem to be really a mess. Are they all the same size or were there bigger and smaller ones?

Rgds,
Radek

Thanks! Getting there, but frustrating at times (like most models I guess).

Thanks - There is a bit of an issue with the front funnel top not being perfectly aligned with the rears, so I'll have to somehow slice it off and try to re-position it. Marginal, but it's annoying me.

There are three sizes of rowing boat - the pair of smaller ones and the larger one are all OK, it's the two middle sized ones that are the issue.

The two steam launches and the remaining longboat are all passable without much issue, although now I have a new kit, I might re-do them and select the best ones.

Some of the boats appear to be the same type as those supplied with the HMV SMS Panther, but the Panther versions are far more refined. For example, the steam launch has a propeller and strake, and the rowing boats have more realistic internal detail.

Searchlights complete:

And fitted the last few door panels; BluTack on a cocktail stick is good for small stuff like this. Also works well for photo-etch on plastic models:

The top of the front funnel was a bit off - at least I thought it was. So I made a fixture to hold the funnel while slicing the top off with a scalpel:

Then repositioned it with the top raised slightly on a blob of PVA. I then wicked PVA mixed with grey paint around the remaining tapered gap:

Then on to the remaining railings. I’d been putting these off because they didn’t fit properly. I ended up cutting the ends off:

Then trimming the long bits to fit the short ends:

...and cutting the ends of the spare to form new stanchions for the shortened ends. All secured with diluted PVA:

So they’re now fitted to the port side of the hull:

And attention turned to the hull cranes and stbd. tender mooring spar:

Now waiting to be fitted:
