Dutch destroyer Hr. Ms. Drenthe.
Some weeks ago I showed you the Dutch aircraft carrier Karel Doorman. Included in this kit is the Dutch destroyer Hr. Ms. Drenthe.
In1948 the Dutch Government ordered 12 destroyers, which were classified as submarine hunters. The first 4 ships were of the "Holland"-class. These ships were a bit smaller as the 8 ships of the "Friesland"-class. Hr. Ms. Drenthe was part of this class. During their service the ships fulfilled their task in the First Flotila (Hr. Ms. cruiser De Ruyter) and in the Fifth Flotila (Hr. Ms. Karel Doorman). Except for the Friesland all ships were sold in 1981/82 to Peru. Due to a fire onboard Hr. Ms. Drenthe the ship was decommissioned on 12 November 1980 as was later canibalised in Peru for spare parts. |

I like the detailing you put into the "Drenthe".
First the carrier "Karel Doorman", then a KLM DC-10, and now the "Drenthe". Wow, this forum is having a Dutch Touch! |

Nice use of wire and paper in the details!
What did you use for the radars (and also I notice them in the Aircraft carrier)? |

Old times relived!
I built this one in the fifties... Do you also plan to make ‘Kruiser de Ruyter’ from the same Veritas series? |

The radars are part of an upgrade set which also includes ladders and railings.

Great work on this Dutch destroyer.
Postwar ships from the late 1940s and 1950s are not so common. It's always nice to see one of them here.
