Help!!

Hi team.

Just putting together another model.

Was wondering if anyone can help with this design, as I'm struggling to get it looking right. The stern is good in my opion. Just can not get the bow to form properly.

Is the deck meant to have a curve on it? Just wondering if that curve might help to bring the superstructure closer.

The deck is supposed to be flat. Picture doesn't reflect it very well. But as you can see the bow angles up way too much.

I think it comes down to pre-shaping parts. On my boat projects, taking time to get the parts to stay in almost the right shape was necessary before gluing. When you get them to behave and stay in the right shape, gluing doesn't cause stresses to make things shift in other directions

Hello MarkJ,

on the pics I saw some self-glueing taps on the hull and it looks like you have not very much experience in card modelling. I don't want to annoy you.

If my supposing is correct, we have to find a method which is good enough for realizing. I suggest the following, the black half ellipse is the fuselage of the ship as cross section. The red line stands for the deck in profile. And the green ones are the joiners.

It seems to me that is easier to press the hull (black arrows) while drying the glue on the joiners as to bend the deck.

I wish you good luck, cardmodelling often stands for try and (I hope not) error!

Thanks guys for your input, and yes i am totally new to card modelling. So any tips you can provide will be excellent. I haven't glued the model at this stage, I've just used some sticky tape to try and work out the hull form.

There are a few ways to pre-shape parts. The one I find most valuable is to use a dowel or closed marker pen on the inner side of the curved piece. Place the part in the palm of your hand and roll the cylinder of the dowel or pen back and forth until the part starts to curve the way you want it to go. Once it naturally stays in roughly the proper shape, it will be much easier to glue and have other parts attach to it to achieve the final shape

Hello MarkJ,

it is good to know that not everything is already glued, so you can follow the way Vermin_King was drawing for you. I supposed that deck plate was already glued on the back side and the hull on the lower side to the frames.
