Hi there!

This is a magnificent model! I will have to order a copy. Beautiful and clean build thus far.

Very enjoyable and encouraging to follow this thread! Made me continue with my own project...

Hi Jan, Thanks for your advice, but is is not the building of the ship I fear, that will probably no be the problem, it is the rigging, I have no talent at all for rigging, this is my worsed nightmare, as I told, I tried many times to get it right, as it should be with such a model, but no luck.

Hi Jan,
There is no reason why you should not try to build the hull and leave it unrigged, just like many English admiralty models only have flags on the locations of their masts. It is absolutely different from your Japanese battle ships, but with your skills you are certainly capable of building this hull. It might give you just enough drive to try on scratch building like you tried before.
Good luck!

Hello,
I can't believe it's been so long since the last update. Publication of the model, health, a lot of work and many other reasons could excuse me, but that's not why we are here on the forum.
I have put up all the masts and I think you can say that the standing rigging is ready. Most components built/rigged as planned. A slight problem arose with the bowsprit mast and the foremast: both leaned back slightly when tensioning the stays, which was not matched by the stiffness of the bowsprit (it rose a little). I am satisfied with the symmetry: with such a large sailing ship, I managed it almost perfectly. Two days ago, the model, unfinished but secured in the "aquarium", made its first cruise at the Model Show in Nowy Tomyśl. I invite you to the latest photos of "De Zeven Provincien":

Best wishes
Tomek

Rigging a ship like this is an incredible amount of work. And you are only half way!
Beautiful model!
